Gray got inspired by her acquaintances to start her social media journey, but she had more successes than the others. Her success was so great on the application that even her mother downloaded it just to watch her. Loren Gray's musical.ly popularity spread to other social media platforms. Random people started reacting to her videos and making collages from Gray's musical.ly videos on YouTube. Gray was amazed by the attention she received however, some of her friends were not so thrilled. In fact, some were friends who turned on Gray rather than supporting her. A few of her friends wiped their Facebook accounts and began attacking her. Loren spoke out in a UPROXX interview "They would write awful things which claimed I'm not a talented person and that I'm rude. having lip fillers and that I've had surgery. I was albino, I was anorexic. There was a lot of talk about how they likely to take me over to the point where I found myself in the bathroom of my school talking to my mother and telling me I was afraid." Loren's mother was concerned about her daughter's mental health and decided to take Loren out of the school. She was unable to watch her daughter suffering in school due to other students.
